apg is a quantitative benchmark site for AI companion platforms. We publish ranked composite scores, sub-score heat strips, and methodology logs. We do not publish editorial recommendations. We do not weight scores by affiliate relationships. We do not run sponsored placements.
What we measure
Nine dimensions, weighted into a composite. Full rubric at /benchmark-methodology/. The composite is the weighted geometric mean of the nine sub-scores; we use the geometric (not arithmetic) mean because we want a platform that is catastrophically bad on one axis to be visibly downweighted, not averaged into mediocrity.
The dimensions are: persona-consistency, visual-fidelity, latency-p95, conversation-depth, pricing-clarity, account-deletion, mobile-parity, boundary-policy, moderation-consistency. They are not equally weighted, see the methodology page for the current weight vector.
Cycle cadence
One benchmark cycle per month. Platforms not measured in a given cycle do not have their scores carried over, the heat strip shows only the platforms measured in the current cycle. Historical cycles are archived at /data/<year>-<month>.json.
What we do not do
- Editorial recommendations. We publish numbers and let the reader weight them according to their own preferences.
- Affiliate-weighted scoring. Affiliate links exist on this site; they are post-publication and do not influence composite calculation.
- Pre-publication communication with vendors. We do not contact platforms before publication. Vendors are welcome to contact us after publication to dispute factual claims; methodology and scores are not negotiable.
- Sponsored placements, “featured” tiers, or paid distribution of any kind.
Stack
The site is a static WordPress theme rendered server-side. Latency probes are scheduled via cron from three PoPs (frankfurt, virginia, singapore). Probe data is dumped weekly to public JSON.
