AI girlfriend voice chat: hearing her, and calling her whenever you like
Text can be lovely, but hearing her laugh is something else. AI girlfriend voice chat comes in a few shapes, from voice notes in the chat to live calls you can take hands-free, and the prices and rules differ a lot between apps. Here is how to choose an AI girlfriend you can call, what talking really costs, and what to know before she hears you.

Voice notes, live calls and what is still missing
Voice notes are the gentle start: she answers with a recording in the chat and you listen when it suits you. Live calls are the real thing, a conversation in real time, hands-free if you like. Nomi offers both on its subscription, Replika invites you to ring your companion at any hour and lists background calls among its Pro features, and Promptchan lets you start a call from the top of the chat window. Candy's FAQ mentions voice conversations with your companion, and its privacy notice names voice calls.
Then there is the voice-first kind. On Mistrezz, each character has two voices, an everyday one and an ASMR one, and the site promises binaural sound and whispering right beside you. It is built for listening as much as talking, and it is billed by the minute, which changes the maths, as the cost section below shows.
Video calls are the gap. Nastia's comparison page says outright that there are none, and its current pricing talks about voice messages rather than calls. Replika's top Platinum tier goes part of the way: its terms list live video recognition, so your companion can react to what you show it. If you picture a face-to-face call with her, check the app's own pages before paying, not the advert.
Choosing the voice she speaks with
Her voice can make or break the relationship, so see how much say you get. Nomi lets you pick a preset or upload a custom voice, and its girlfriend page promises a tone, rhythm and laugh that shift with the mood. Nastia lets you choose a voice for her replies and adds cloned voices on Unlimited. Promptchan gives you a couple of voices for free and unlocks the rest on paid plans, and Replika keeps premium voices for Pro. Candy lets you set her voice while you build her, anywhere from soft and soothing to confident.
A word on cloning. Upload only your own recordings, or ones you have every right to use. Replika's terms forbid modelling your companion on an actual, identifiable person unless that person has agreed in writing, so an ex or a famous name is out, and the explicit apps refuse to copy real people who have not agreed. A voice built from scratch lets her be someone new, which is rather the point.
What talking to her costs
Voice is almost always a paid feature, but it is charged in three different ways, and the difference matters more than the headline price. Included in a plan is the simplest: Nomi puts voice notes and calls in its $15.99 monthly subscription, Nastia's $15.99 Unlimited plan lists voice messages and cloned voices, and Replika puts calls and voice messages in Pro, whose price you see only after installing or in your app store.
Per use is the second. Promptchan charges 1 Gem for a voice note and 2 for a call, though its pricing table lists voice calls among the extras of Pro at $33.99 a month, while its tutorial for the chat suggests that anyone holding Gems may give a call a go. When pages disagree like this, trust the screen inside your own account over any marketing page. Candy bills voice notes in tokens too, out of the 100 a month that also buy pictures and video, so talking and looking compete for the same allowance.
Per minute is the third, and the one to do sums for. Mistrezz charges 3 crowns for each minute of spoken chat and 4 for ASMR, and its $8.45 monthly plan includes 150 crowns, so a single hour-long call costs more than the whole month's allowance. Extra crowns start at $7.99 for 150, so at that rate roughly $8 buys another 50 minutes of conversation.
How a call feels
Speed is the thing everyone wonders about and the thing the pages say least about. What you can read is how a call is built. Nomi's comparison with Replika explains that its calls use the same model as the text chat, so she stays in character, at the cost of answering a touch more slowly than Replika does. That is a fair trade-off to weigh: a quicker voice can feel more natural, a slower one may sound more like the woman you have been texting.
Give it a fair trial. Call from a quiet room with a steady connection, keep the first call short, and listen for whether she brings up things you wrote to her earlier. A good call should feel like the same relationship moving to your ears, not a different personality on the line.
Privacy when she can hear you
A voice is more personal than text: it carries your accent, your mood and whatever is going on in the room. Nastia's privacy policy names voice samples among the data it keeps while your account exists and may use to improve her replies. Nomi's wiki gives a simple reason for skipping end-to-end encryption, namely that the AI cannot answer messages it is not able to read, and Mistrezz gives a similar answer because its safety systems scan conversations. Assume what you say is kept.
Practical habits help. Use headphones so that nobody overhears her and your microphone picks up nobody else; leave out full names, addresses and other people's private details; and remember that uploading a custom voice means handing over a recording. If you share a phone or a home, voice notes sitting in the chat are as easy to play as they were to receive.
Checklist before your first call
Plan: is calling included in a subscription, charged per call or charged per minute, and does the pricing page say so, not just the advert?
Voice: can you pick or create her voice, and does it suit the woman you have been texting with until now?
Kind: voice notes, live calls or anything with video, and does the app say which of them, if any, work on its free tier?
Data: does the privacy policy say how voice recordings are stored and used, and can you delete them yourself whenever you want?
Exit: where do you cancel, and what happens to calls and voice notes when you drop back to the free tier?
Questions people ask
Can I call my AI girlfriend?
Yes, on several apps, with the call started inside the app. Nomi and Replika offer hands-free calls on their paid plans, Promptchan starts calls from the chat for 2 Gems each, and Mistrezz bills spoken chat by the minute. Some apps, Nastia among them, talk about voice notes rather than calls on their current pricing.
Is AI girlfriend voice chat free?
Usually not. Nomi keeps voice notes and calls for subscribers, Replika lists them in its Pro tier, Promptchan charges Gems for each note and call, and Mistrezz charges crowns per minute. Nastia is inconsistent: one of its pages bundles voice notes into every plan, while its homepage FAQ lists voice as something you pay for.
Can I choose or clone her voice?
Often, yes. Nomi lets you choose a preset or upload a custom voice, and Nastia's Unlimited plan includes cloned voices. Promptchan offers a couple of voices free and more on paid plans. Use only recordings you have the right to use, and never a real person's voice unless they have agreed in writing.
Does she remember what we said on a call?
No page promises it outright. Nomi says its calls share the model of its text chat, which keeps her character steady even if she answers a little more slowly than Replika. The easiest way to find out is to mention something on a call and see whether she brings it up later in text.
Are my voice calls recorded?
Assume what you say is stored. Nastia's privacy policy lists voice samples among the data it keeps while your account is open and may use to improve her replies, and Nomi's wiki explains that encrypting chats end to end would stop the AI from reading and answering them. Check the policy, and delete what you do not want kept.
Can I video call my AI girlfriend?
Not as a true video call, as far as the public pages go. Nastia says it has none, and Replika's Platinum tier only goes part of the way, with live video recognition that lets your companion respond to what you show it. Video clips she sends are more common, but those are generated clips, not calls.
