Who is waiting in the Discover feed

Promptchan started as a picture generator, and it shows: the chat sits one tab away from a full photo studio, a bit like dating someone who brings a camera crew. Companions come from the Discover feed, made by the Promptchan team and by other members. Each card opens with a name, a look, a backstory and a first line, and a gender filter makes an AI boyfriend as easy to find as a girlfriend, in realistic or anime style.

If nobody in the feed clicks, you can design her yourself: a name, an appearance written in words or borrowed from a picture in your studio history or the gallery, then a job, interests, a sexuality setting and the line she greets you with. The pages disagree on who gets this. The chat guide walks every user through the builder and saves advanced sliders for Pro, while the chat page and the pricing FAQ list custom characters as a Pro feature.

Her personality, and what she remembers

The personality settings are short and practical. You choose a temperament such as shy, confident, playful or cold, add interests and a background, and drop her into one of more than 50 prewritten scenes. Two chat models write her replies, v2.5 Pro for deeper, more immersive answers and v2.5 Fast for quick banter, and you can swap the model, her personality or the scenario mid-conversation when the mood changes.

Memory is where you should keep expectations modest. The chat page promises a girlfriend who knows who she is, which means she stays in character, but no page explains how much of your own story she carries from one evening to the next. One rule is spelled out: moving between Chat mode, which reads like texting, and Story mode, where you narrate and she writes the next part, clears the conversation history. Choose your mode before you get attached.

How spicy it gets, and where it stops

Quite spicy, especially in pictures. Uncensored image generation from a text prompt is part of every plan, free included, and the chat page promises replies that are not cut down to a corporate script. The chat guide says the tone can run from sweet and teasing to far more intense, and the characters are meant to follow wherever you lead.

If your fantasies stay with fictional adults, you will rarely hit a wall, but the terms do draw lines. They say every character is intended to be an adult, and they ban anything sexual that presents someone as under 18, romantic storylines between relatives, fictional or not, lookalikes of celebrities or private people who have not agreed, animals and extreme gore. Prompts, results and uploads go through automated scans, members can flag public posts and a human team reviews them, so expect the odd refused request.

Pictures, voice notes, calls and clips

This is where Promptchan earns its place. Mid-chat, a button called Create image from scene turns the moment into a picture, reading her outfit, the setting and the mood from what you have been saying, and you can pick which character model keeps her face the same from shot to shot. Back in the studio you write a prompt, choose a realistic or anime look, set the pose, then use Tweak to change only the outfit, background or light.

Voice comes in two forms. A couple of voices are free and the rest unlock on paid plans; each voice note costs 1 Gem, and a live call started from the chat header costs 2. What is less clear is who can call: the pricing table lists Voice Call among the Pro extras, while the chat guide says any account with Gems to spend can try it. Check what your own plan shows before you pay for a phone date.

Video is simpler to read: text-to-video, animating a still, generated sound and the Extend button all belong to Pro, and every clip spends extra Gems, with surcharges for top quality, audio or a character in the frame. The button shows the Gem price before anything renders. Download what you like, because an unpublished clip is gone after a day.

What a month really costs

The free tier refills a Gem allowance every day. Paying starts at $14.99 a month for Plus, which brings 100 Gems, double the chat allowance and HD images. Premium, at $23.99, lifts you to 400 Gems and five times as much chat. At $33.99, Pro adds 800 Gems on top of unlimited chat and unlimited casual generations, and the pricing table reserves video, custom characters, voice calls, 4K output and the full pose and style library for it. Any promotional price appears only at checkout.

For a relationship, the number to watch is your Gem balance, not the plan name. A free account gets a handful of starter messages, and after those the chat guide says each message costs one or two Gems, depending on the model. Plus and Premium multiply the chat allowance rather than removing it; only Pro lists chat as unlimited. Paid members get half off extra Gem packs, yet no public page lists what a pack costs, and the yearly plans named in the refund policy have no published price.

In yearly terms, Pro at the monthly rate comes to about $408 before any top-ups, against about $180 for Plus. A relationship that is mostly texting can live on the cheaper plans; the one the homepage advertises, with calls, clips and a partner you designed yourself, is a Pro relationship.

Privacy, billing and cancelling

The company behind it is VisionAI Labs Limited in Dublin, and Irish law governs the terms. Pay with crypto or through G2A and you buy a fixed period that will not renew; other methods can renew automatically, and checkout marks which ones do. You cancel in your account settings, keep the paid features until the cycle runs out, and can delete the account entirely. Fees may change with reasonable notice, but never on a cycle you have already paid for.

If the spark is not there, the refund policy gives you 30 days from the purchase, and yearly plans get that window again at every renewal. The condition is the catch: you must have barely touched the AI during those 30 days, you have to cancel first, and every claim is judged case by case, with processing aimed at about seven business days. Crypto payments are final, and the policy asks you to write to support before any chargeback.

Before you share your secrets, know that the privacy policy never says how long conversations are kept. It covers account details, payment records, the prompts you type in public mode and device data, runs first-party analytics plus Google Analytics and Google Ads (switched on only after consent in the EU and UK), and lets you ask for erasure. Your pictures need a decision too: private generation is a paid feature, and anything made in public mode hands Promptchan a permanent licence to use it, promotion included, and lets other members copy and rework it.
